Today, I mourn the loss of an extraordinary man: my father. He was a Sci-Fi author, Pilot, Storyteller, Sailor, Listener, Philosopher, Medic, Motivational Speaker, Skier, and my ultimate Role Model.
His profound points of view regarding innovation and the centrality of the human spirit will forever resonate with me, just as they did when he was still with us. Should you have ever heard me speak on these subjects, you were likely unaware of how much of my dad’s voice was woven into my words.
I simply want everyone to know what an outstanding individual has just passed away. I was immensely proud of my dad.
He imparted valuable lessons that I wish to share:
- Hug and kiss often.
- Spend your time wisely.
- Forgive fast.
- Be humble.
- Find reasons to celebrate.
- Be kind.
- Focus on what truly counts.
He understood that material possessions—golden watches, golden yachts, bank accounts, even power—are fleeting. We cannot take them with us to where we are eventually going. My father always used to say:
„Close your eyes. That’s what you really own.“
