Regarding AI and Art, I started testing DALL-E 2 a couple of days ago and I just have to admit that this is some serious power in the hands of real artists. They could easily prototype various ideas without needing to go lengths into drafting and prototyping. Designers could test-drive various approaches to their visual storytelling tasks. Once artists or designers find the right balance for their prototyped craft, they could go deeper and create what still no AI can master to this day: infuse their craft with personality.
As for me, a non-designer and not really an artist, I love to do what I always do: turn ideas into practice by combining things and testing out the waters.
In this specific case, I created an „Old Space Man“ for my ongoing NFT Collection. My process involved first using a black and white image of myself and changing it by applying a VQGAN+CLIP via a Google Collab. In a next step, I took the result and fed it into DALL-E.
