All these discussions seem pretty familiar to me, remembering times when ESports and gaming had a side-spot at the mainstream’s dinner table. Gamers were frowned upon, the underdogs, often called „nerds,“ „folks without a social life,“ or „killer game“ players. Deeply inside, I assume most of them were longing to be part of the established media scene.
But once commercialization kicked in, some scoffed at those gamers who did get into the mainstream as „selling out.“ No matter where you turn, there will always be those who can’t make up their minds. As for me, I am pleased to see gaming take off the way it did and is still doing.
The same will eventually happen to the Web3 scene and its protagonists.
Remember that it’s not „This“ OR „That“ but most likely a best-case scenario hybrid of both worlds.
