Google: Wasted Opportunity

Call me naive, but if Google was the company I envisioned them to be, this would have been at least a PR stunt to stir public debate and position them as a thought leader asking the tough questions. Instead, this seems to be a legit leak, which I think is rather sad and a wasted opportunity for Google.
