Daniel Suarez has released his next opus, „Shadow Zone“.

Whatever Daniel puts out, I digest it immediately. Suarez is the canary in the coal mine. His stories are hard-hitting where it hurts. In their most optimistic sequences Daniel’s books even attempt to give you a constructive answer to the most pressing issues of our times. Looking at the premise of his latest work, I can only assume where a former security expert like Suarez takes his writing notes from – and if I am not mistaken these sources may be more genuine than I dare to believe. That said, the themes which the brief summary below describes all sound too familiar:

For anyone who has not yet heard of- or read books by Daniel Suarez: this is your chance to discover one of my favorite SciFi authors ever. His themes are thoughtful, up-to-the-minute, top tech modern tales of how we as humans act and behave in a world that becomes increasingly technology-driven at exponential rates. And he does all that brilliantly while still staying at a healthy distance to soulless tech utopias while keeping it all realistic without any „Deus Ex Machina“ event spoiling the fiction. It’s at times rough and dirty, just like hard-SciFi should be – visceral, mean and not always happy with the way humans handle power. Exactly my cup of SciFi tea. Maybe it’s yours as well?
