AI’s Soul: A New Perspective

Yesterday evening, #InsteadOfNetflix, I stumbled across a demo by Kevin Fischer of OpenSouls, and it has given me pause for reflection. Instead of the conventional approach to AI as a tool, Kevin posits a provocative question:

“Who is AI going to be to us?”

He created a simulation in which two AI entities, Victoria and Danny, engage in a conversation that transcends mere logic, suggesting an underpinning of emotions and intentions. The essence isn’t just in the AIs‘ technical prowess but in their ‚human touch‘ – a sentiment, a character, a „soul“.

While this perspective offers a novel approach to how we might engage with AI, whispers in the industry hint at even greater advancements. That same evening, I read about rumors that OpenAI could be inching closer to a model with true AGI capabilities. Some even state that the company might have already succeeded but is holding back.

As we ponder the future of AI, we might want to reimagine it not just as advancing machine intelligence but as a bridge to deeper human connection.
