GLaDOS, AI, and Coding Risks

Participating in this week’s gaming discussion by Alexander brought back memories of my love-hate relationship with Portal’s GLaDOS, the „Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System.“ Her dark humor and biting sarcasm truly oozed from every pixel.

Ironically, leveraging ChatGPT and a free version of Cohere, I recently created a GLaDOS chatbot that mimics her personality with an authenticity I haven’t encountered elsewhere.

It’s fascinating how, simply by leveraging tools like ChatGPT, you can now „code“ — even if you don’t possess traditional coding skills.

This raises a critical question: Is using AI to code without knowing how to code yourself a security risk? You bet it is!

So, should you be doing serious work with it? Perhaps not right now, or at least only if you have some foundational coding knowledge. However, I believe that time will eventually expose any current „fishy“ practices, ultimately providing us with peace of mind.

Ultimately, we want to ensure that AI like GLaDOS remains firmly in the realm of Science Fiction, not Science Fact.

I will link to the GLaDOS chatbot in the comments below.
