People often ask me how I keep up with all the news around AI. Well, here is (one part of) my secret: I created my own tool.
Of course, this tool is only one puzzle piece of the whole AI diet I get each day. But creating and fine-tuning it was a learning session in itself, so I boosted my skills even while building it.
And now I offer YOU to trial my recently deployed „AI News Radar“.
Just write „AI Radar“ in the comments….oh no wait – what the hell, I just push this out there for anyone, no strings attached! If you like, tell me what you think about it in the comments. Would be appreciated.
So, what can this thing do and how does it run?
All based on RSS Feeds:
The Radar collects freely definable RSS/ATOM links. I pre-filled the list with 193 RSS feeds and activated 40 of the most prominent ones for you already. You can add, delete, activate, or de-activate these feeds as you like. I wouldn’t suggest activating all 193 feeds, as this may still bog the app down. Choose between 20 and 80 sources for optimal performance.
Once the feed update is done, you’ll find thematic clusters below „Recent AI News“. Click them to cluster the results – no AI involved. Clicking on an article will show a short summary with a link to the original source.
Built on Gemini AI:
The app auto-clusters the topics of the RSS news using Google’s Gemini AI, dynamically producing up to 5 top thematic clusters that all deal with AI. Depending on which RSS feeds you plug in, you can steer the results. Clicking a Trend will show you all related news in the middle column. You can export all related links, including short content descriptions of every link, as HTML to use anywhere else.
The middle column is also the place to start chatting with the news. Ask for the latest news, or become quite specific. If the app can’t find any RSS-based content (articles), it will ask you if it should search the web for an answer.
Click on the „Weekly Report“ in the header, and the app will dynamically create a news dossier with everything „AI“ of the past 7 days. No more FoMo!
If you want to switch API keys, this is also done via the header’s „API key“ feature. This is also where you can kind of „Log Out“, as it will delete your API key entry from your cache and thus close your session.
Disclaimer:
- This is a work in progress. So, don’t feel entitled to anything using this thing – it WILL break once in a while.
- This tool is biased towards the world of Telco AI. Great for you if you are in this field, bad if you are interested in anything else than AI and Telco.
- At times, I get a strange feeling using this app. It feels as if there is some kind of sarcastic AI kernel involved. Just a whim.
