Building My AI News Radar

Instead of binge-watching, I’ve been diligently working on my personal „AI News Radar“. This project, currently at version 3.9.0, is designed to help me research AI trends for work, and I maintain a growing backlog of exciting ideas.

As I progress, I’m constantly discovering new ways to collaborate with AI, particularly leveraging Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview. This journey has been quite a ride, teaching me the immense value of system prompts, crafting effective briefing documents for machines, and even picking up Python code as I go along (something I’d never learned before!).

Key Features & Future Vision

  • A major feature I’m eagerly anticipating is the creation of an RSS feed template database. Imagine collecting enough RSS feeds for a specific topic, saving them, and then being able to load other curated sets from the database. This opens up the possibility for it to become not just an „AI“ News Radar, but easily transform into a „Gardening“ or any other topic-specific News Radar.
  • I’ve already implemented a satisfying stylesheet tool (a simple dropdown) that allows me to choose from various „skins.“ It might seem silly, but switching themes based on my mood—from the Deutsche Telekom CSS theme to a Minecraft theme or a clean „Vanilla“ theme—is incredibly satisfying.
  • The tool also includes practical functionalities like my „Weekly Telco Report“ Excel Export popup and a robust RSS Feed Management tool, both fully operational.

The only significant challenge I’m currently grappling with is perfecting the prompting of the „Intelligence“ behind the headline scanning. The results still seem too random at times, but I’m confident I’ll get there.

Once this last piece is refined, I anticipate saving significant time researching trends. While I’m aware that similar functionalities exist in other online tools, my motivation is two-fold:

  • The sheer enjoyment and learning about AI that comes from hands-on development.
  • Proving that even beginners with no prior knowledge can build powerful, local AI-driven solutions.
