„What I cannot create, I do not understand.“
(Richard Feynman, physicist)
A while ago I teased you all that something „big“ would be going to happen. Well, I guess now is the time:
Today, our team (SI01 – Service Development and Innovation) has launched our very own service innovation „AI Lab“ at Deutsche Telekom.
It consists mainly of a dedicated PC workstation which runs local AI models for text, image, audio, and video processing, enabling RAG and even verbal interactions with Chatbots via microphone and speakers.
The heart of our lab is a powerful NVIDIA RTX 4090 GPU, complemented by 4TB of primary storage and 16TB for result data.
Our goal:
- To make AI tangible for everyone.
- To let our colleagues experience AI innovation first hand and „Hands-on“.
- To start the conversation about AI.
So, this AI Lab isn’t just for our team – we’re planning on using our „AI Lab“ for demonstrations and presentations across Sales & Service and even the entire company if we see demand. And it aligns perfectly with our Senior Vice President Operational Excellence & Innovation Peter Meier van Esch who really pushes the envelope by getting all of us into a working habit regarding AI: we truly believe in the power of „doing“ rather than just talking.
Because if you just talk about but don’t do about you sooner or later cry about.
We want to take our colleagues on this AI journey that we’ve all embarked upon at Deutsche Telekom. And for that we need to entice them with hands-on approaches, to let them see how easy and fun it can be to interact with smart models.
How is YOUR COMPANY getting everyone aboard the AI-Train?
I am curious, Jens Dorn, Christopher Sicurella or Jesus Serrano and many others.
A huge „Thank you!“ to my team lead Gereon Hammel for forking out your ideas (and cash) to create the lab as well as Stefan Sieloff, Lara Ziegler and Niklas Ebert for your support in getting the lab realized and everything in place. Let’s AI-rock this!
