X-Files‘ Secret TV Message

Last time I dared watching classic media, aka „TV“, something strange hushed past the TV screen. Thanks to modern TV equipment, we can pause and rewind live TV these days, and this was the perfect use case for me.

„Stop! Can you please rewind a sec?“ I asked my wife.

„Why?“

„There was something strange.“

„Like what?“

„I’ll show you.“

„What the hell is THAT?“

Years of ARGs prepared me for this.

„It’s an encoded string. Probably Base64.“

„But why?“

„Let’s find out!“

I love it when classic media tries something slightly different. Case in point: X-Files using Base64 encoded messages in the intro of their episode „Followers“ (which was also encoded, by the way).

They showed VGhlIFRydXRoIGlzIE91dCBUaGVyZQ= which translates into „The truth is out there“ (of course! What else?).

Great stuff!

Now eagerly awaiting the first chatGPT compressed secret messages in classic media…😎😁
