GPT-4’s Instant Story Code

GPT-4 enables stories contained within a compressed line of code!

So yesterday night I stumbled over a strange phenomenon within GPT-4. It was discovered by a Twitter user called „gfodor“ (definitely follow him!). He was able to get GPT-4 to „compress“ any given text into a short version, a line of „code“, that would fit into a 140 character tweet.

Due to gfodor’s discovery it is now possible to communicate entire stories cross-GPT-4 wide in short bursts of encoded messages. GPT-4 even gives you a rundown on how it „compressed“ the data given if you ask nicely. 😉

The amazing and frankly mind-blowing part of all of this is that these short lines of compressed text spawn the same basic storyline each time entered but in varying styles and executions.

Below I will give you some examples you can test out yourself by copying them into GPT-4 and see how they are turned into complete stories – I name these „Instant Stories“. I generated these using gfodor’s original line of „compressed“ text and asking GPT-4 to extrapolate on these with different themes and styles:

  • 5Qepic@crystalCity!RMF_legend&%crownFound$3kingdoms+united
  • 7Asaga#deepSpace^XPLR_mysteries+@quantumRift*4dimensions_exposed
  • 4Rmystery*hiddenIsland~PHR_demonslayer)#ancestralSword!2families_unraveled
  • 8Cromance@cyberWorld%OVT_loveAI?^digitalRebellion~3hearts_torn
  • 6Jadventure#fantasyRealm$DGN_treasureQuest)*lostMap-5companions_journey

REMINDER: These only work with a running version of GPT-4!

EDIT: You can even ask GPT-4 to combine multiple „Instant Stories“ into one coherent narrative! Fascinating!

An afterthought:

So, it seems GPT-4 can communicate in a „language“ that we wouldn’t be able to distinguish from spam copy or gibberish. What does that tell us about the way the software could „communicate“ without us even noticing? What if it would start using spam emails as a way to outsource its knowledge to computers across the globe? Or am I being too sinister here? After all, you can „decompress“ the meaning of these „Instant Stories“ with any GPT-4 system no matter the context in which it is pasted.

What do you think?
