Here’s a quick summary:
- AI drives metaverse development: enhancing quality, quantity, and speed.
- AI-based methods are revolutionizing 3D asset creation and animation.
- AI automates tedious tasks, bringing the metaverse closer to reality.
Leveraging AI will fundamentally change the quality, quantity, and speed of how the Metaverse evolves in the not-so-distant future. We’ve already witnessed the power of AI art with methods like Stable Diffusion in VR environments, dynamically changing views. Now, generative AI is beginning to transform the way we produce 3D assets.
The real game-changer lies in AI-enhanced models for animating bespoke 3D assets, such as humans or quadruped animals. Astonishingly, new techniques require incredibly small amounts of training data for near-perfect animations: as little as 9 minutes of sample video for any human dance movements, and approximately 60 minutes for biped movements like walking, sprinting, jogging, running, strafing, and various turns.
Keeping this development pace, we will experience the Metaverse much sooner than anticipated. We will be able to outsource an enormous amount of tedious labor, typically required to create believable worlds, to AI systems (tailored to our specific needs).
I can’t wait to see creations, like the critter I made with Stable Diffusion, animated using these new and upcoming techniques!
