A quick user journey into the Metaverse:
Samsung Electronics updated their presence in Decentraland just a short while ago. Reason enough for me to revisit the place and check it out.
They included a way more streamlined approach to their gamified interactions. Clear quest pointers when entering their place and expectation management when it comes to receiving and interacting with blockchain-based tokens. It goes a little like this:
- Visit three different animal domains (Lion, Owl, Cthulhu/Octopus)
- Discover and choose 3 specific items from each realm
- Decide on your style by picking and choosing one item of each realm
- Mint a digital token based on your choices
- Use token to generate generative AI-Art
- Use token to enter your very own VIP Lounge (in my case I stuck with our Deamon overlord Cthulhu of course)
Takeaway:
- + Fun interactions and improved guidance for players
- + Great feeling to be one of currently 7K VIPs in the Samsung Lounge
- + Nice showcase to demo the combination of AI Art, Metaverse and tokens
- – Still rather complex pathway and UX to achieve token benefits
- – Received token does not show up anywhere immediately. I had to go and check my wallet address, switch to the Polygon network and then import the token as custom token for it to show up in my Metamask
- – Last but not least, a general Metaverse problem: WHERE ARE ALL THE PEOPLE!?
The Metaverse still has a long way to go but I am super excited to see so many brands trying out new ideas, concepts and prototypes right now. Especially Samsung should be lauded for going all in with their approach. We still have quite a way ahead of us but I stay positive.
